Wedding Cultural Traditions (featuring the Turner Family)

Wedding Cultural Traditions (featuring the Turner Family)

Self-guided cultural tour of wedding traditions from different communities at Conner Prairie.

On September 12 and 13, Conner Prairie brings wedding traditions to life across its historic grounds. Your family will explore how different cultures and communities mark the joining of two people and families. Visit the 1816 Lenape Indian Camp to learn about Indigenous wedding customs, then stop by the William Conner House to witness a historical celebration. The highlight happens in Prairietown at 2 p.m., where the Turner family welcomes you as guests to celebrate the wedding of Andre Turner and Lillie Richardson—a joyful occasion that shows how love and commitment have been honored throughout history. The grounds are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, giving you flexibility to explore at your own pace. This program is included with your general admission to Conner Prairie, so there's no extra cost. It's a wonderful opportunity for families to learn about cultural traditions and see history brought to life in a meaningful, celebratory way.
