Summer Saturdays: Celebrating the Grand River Watershed and USA at 250

Explore the Grand River Watershed and America's 250th anniversary at Grand Rapids Public Museum.

Join the Grand Rapids Public Museum for a Saturday dedicated to learning about the Grand River Watershed and American history. Explore hands-on activities designed to help visitors of all ages understand this important local ecosystem. The Lower Grand River Organization of Watersheds will be on hand with activities focused on identifying water specimens, plus information about the Grand River Water Trail and giveaways. You'll also have the chance to watch a portion of *Frontier for Freedom*, a documentary that highlights Michigan's significant but often overlooked role in American history—fitting for this year's 250th anniversary of the nation's founding. The best part? This event is completely free with regular museum admission. It's a great way to spend a summer Saturday indoors enjoying the air-conditioning while learning something meaningful, or you can venture into downtown with the Museum's guided exploration activities. This is part of the Summer Saturdays series, which runs nearly every Saturday from mid-June through mid-August, each featuring a different science, history, or cultural theme. Visit grpm.org/summer-saturdays for more information about this event and other themed Saturdays happening throughout the summer.
