Paws to Read

Paws to Read at Brownsburg Library—boost reading confidence with a calm therapy pet companion.

Does your child love reading but sometimes feel nervous reading aloud? This program pairs young readers with friendly, trained therapy animals to create a relaxed and encouraging environment. Kids ages 5 to 11 can bring their favorite book and read to a calm, patient pet—removing the anxiety that often comes with reading aloud. It's a wonderful way to build confidence and strengthen reading skills while enjoying a meaningful connection with an animal. The program runs in 15-minute individual time slots, so your child will have personalized attention. Pre-registration is required, and spots tend to fill quickly, so we recommend signing up as soon as possible. When you arrive, check in at the Children's desk to confirm your assigned time slot. Best of all, this event is completely free. It's a great option for reluctant readers or any child who'd enjoy a unique literacy experience.
