Paws to Read

Does your child love books and animals? This program pairs young readers with a registered therapy dog for a relaxed, supportive reading experience. Children ages 5–10 can bring a favorite book and read aloud to their furry friend, creating a low-pressure way to build confidence and practice reading skills. The therapy dog's calm presence helps take the nervousness out of reading aloud, so kids can focus on enjoying the story and strengthening their abilities at the same time. This free program is held at the Avon Public Library and offers a wonderful opportunity for early readers to gain experience in a fun, judgment-free setting. It's perfect for children who might feel anxious about reading in front of others or who simply love animals and want to share their favorite stories in a unique way.
