Night Hike on Vandalia Trail
Evening nature hike on Vandalia Trail with family.
Experience the woods after dark with a trained naturalist leading the way. This evening adventure lasts about an hour and a half, following easy to moderate terrain on a mix of paved, gravel, and grassy paths. You'll search for nocturnal wildlife like bats, owls, and fireflies—the kinds of sights you simply can't see during the day. Small flashlights are available, though the group will use minimal light to let your eyes adjust and avoid disturbing the animals you're hoping to spot.
All ages are welcome, and children five and under can attend free with a registered guardian. The cost is $5 per person for everyone else. You'll need to register in advance; walk-ups aren't available. Weather matters for this one—if rain or severe conditions develop, the program will be canceled. Just plan to dress for an evening outdoors and bring a sense of curiosity about what the park becomes once the sun sets.
