NATURE DISCOVERY: Fossil Hunters

Your family can explore the shores of Big Walnut Creek to hunt for ancient fossils right here at McCloud Nature Park. Kids will search for Paleozoic marine fossils like crinoids and corals, learning how to spot and identify them along the way. A park naturalist will share the fascinating geological history of our region and help bring these discoveries to life. This program works best for children ages 7–12 and requires a parent or guardian to attend (it's not a drop-off program). The experience lasts about two hours. Each child's participation costs $5, while accompanying adults are free. Spots are limited to 20 participants, and you'll need to register online and complete payment before the enrollment deadline—registration isn't available at the park itself on the day of the program.
