Lunch on the Go

This program brings history to life as you meet Victor and Alma Green, a couple traveling from Fort Wayne to Terre Haute in the late 1930s. They'll share their story at The Junction, discussing the real obstacles Black travelers faced during this era when many hotels, restaurants, and diners refused them service. Along with their firsthand accounts of travel challenges and daily life, they'll play period music on a portable record player, giving you an authentic feel for the times. "Lunch on the Go" is part of Conner Prairie's month-long History Meets the Arts celebration, which combines historical storytelling with creative engagement. It's a meaningful way for families to learn about an important chapter in American history while enjoying live performance and music.
