Literary Society

Historic literary program at Conner Prairie museum.

This monthly gathering invites families to step back in time at Prarietown and discover how literary societies functioned as community hubs. Participants explore the role these societies played historically—bringing neighbors together to discuss the important social and political topics of their era. It's a chance to see how books and reading sparked meaningful conversations and helped people think more deeply about the world around them. The program runs on the first Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. and is included free with your general admission to Conner Prairie. It's a wonderful way to introduce kids to the power of literature and thoughtful discussion in a living-history setting. Whether your family enjoys history, reading, or simply engaging in community activities, this is an accessible option that costs nothing extra beyond park entry.
