How Embroidery Makes A Home: Ten More Stitches

How Embroidery Makes A Home: Ten More Stitches

Learn embroidery stitches at Conner Prairie—a hands-on craft class for young makers.

This hands-on workshop at Curtis House in Prairietown invites you to expand your embroidery abilities by learning ten new stitches. Whether you're picking up needlework for the first time or building on existing skills, you'll work with expert instruction to master techniques useful for mending, decorating clothing, and creating textile art. The workshop also explores the rich history of embroidery—how it served as a way to tell stories, beautify homes, and add personal touches to everyday items. Everyone who participates takes home a partially finished project along with supplies to continue stitching: an embroidery hoop, needle, assorted threads, and a reference guide featuring all the stitches covered in class. The workshop welcomes ages 12 and up (participants under 18 need an adult present). Tickets are $60 for members and $65 for nonmembers. This is a meaningful opportunity to connect with a time-honored craft while creating something you'll treasure.
