Guided Nature Walks: White River History

Guided nature walk exploring the White River's oxbow trail and wildlife habitat at Conner Prairie.

Join a guided walk along the White River to discover the natural and historical significance of this oxbow-shaped waterway and the ecosystem it supports. Your guide will lead you on a leisurely one-hour stroll covering less than a mile, sharing insights into how the river has been home to people, animals, and plants throughout time. The walk is suitable for all ages and anyone interested in nature and local history. The route follows mostly paved and crushed-gravel trails with partial shade, including a gentle downhill section at the start. You'll find benches for rest stops along the way, and restrooms are available at the Museum Experience Center where you'll meet your guide. The program runs rain or shine, so bring sunscreen, a hat, and water as needed. This walk is included free with general admission to Conner Prairie. If you have accessibility questions or need specific support, reach out to the Nature Engagement Specialist before your visit.
