Guided Nature Walks: Trails for Kids
Play-based nature walks designed for kids at Conner Prairie historic site.
Your family can explore the natural world at Conner Prairie through guided walks designed to help kids (and the young at heart) connect with their surroundings in meaningful ways. A naturalist guide leads a one-hour journey covering less than a mile, moving at a comfortable pace for the group. The route takes you down a gentle paved slope, then onto flat, shaded trails—a mix of paved pathways and crushed-gravel surfaces about 5 to 10 feet wide. Rest spots with benches are scattered along the way if anyone needs a break.
This program welcomes all ages and runs rain or shine, so pack layers, sunscreen, and water to stay comfortable. The walk is free with general admission to Conner Prairie. Since the trails include both paved and gravel sections with some shading, it's accessible for most families, and restrooms with accessible stalls are available at the nearby Museum Experience Center. If you have specific accessibility concerns or needs, reach out to the Nature Engagement Specialist at morton@connerprairie.org before your visit.
