Guided Nature Walks: Historic Hoosiers

Guided walk blending Conner Prairie's natural beauty with 1800s–1900s Hoosier history.

Your family can combine a love of nature with a history lesson on this guided walk through Conner Prairie's trails. Over the course of an hour, a knowledgeable guide will lead you through the grounds while sharing stories about notable Hoosiers from the 1800s and 1900s—people who made their mark in fields like science, botany, archaeology, and the arts. The walk covers between 0.75 and 1 mile, moving at a comfortable pace for everyone. The route begins near the Museum Experience Center and takes you along mostly flat, paved paths before transitioning to a shaded crushed-gravel trail. You'll find benches along the way if anyone needs a rest. This program runs rain or shine, so pack sunscreen, a hat, and water to stay comfortable. The walk is included with general admission to Conner Prairie. If you have specific accessibility questions or needs, the Nature Engagement Specialist at morton@connerprairie.org is happy to discuss how they can help support your family's visit.
