Guided Nature Walks: Historic Hoosiers
Guided nature walk blending history and hiking at Conner Prairie.
Take a peaceful walk through Conner Prairie while discovering the stories of influential Hoosiers from the 1800s and 1900s who shaped our understanding of nature, science, art, botany, archaeology, and related fields. This guided one-hour stroll covers between 0.75 and 1 mile at a relaxed pace, following mostly flat, paved trails with some crushed-gravel sections and shaded areas. The walk starts near the tram turnaround behind the Museum Experience Center and includes several benches along the route if you need to rest.
The program runs rain or shine, so come prepared with sunscreen, a hat, water, or whatever keeps you comfortable outdoors. Families of all ages are welcome, and the route is designed to be accessible—it begins with a gentle paved downhill section and then follows wide, even paths. Restrooms with accessible stalls are available in the Museum Experience Center. If you have specific access needs, reach out to the Nature Engagement Specialist at morton@connerprairie.org to discuss support options. This walk is included free with general admission to Conner Prairie.
