Guided Nature Walks: Conner Prairie Gardens, Learning about dye plants
Explore dye plants in the garden and try hands-on dyeing at Conner Prairie.
Join a guided walk through the Loom House garden to discover plants that have been used for centuries to create natural dyes for fabric and textiles. You'll explore the gardens alongside a knowledgeable guide and then try your own hand at a dyeing activity to see these beautiful colors firsthand. This walk welcomes everyone—whether you're a plant enthusiast, a curious gardener, or just looking to learn something new, all ages are invited to participate.
The walk takes place on a wide, crushed gravel path through Prairietown, with several benches positioned along the route if you need a rest break. Since this program runs rain or shine, dress for the weather and bring items like sunscreen, a hat, and water. Accessible restrooms are available at the Museum Experience Center. The program is included free with your general admission to Conner Prairie. If you have specific accessibility questions or needs, the Nature Engagement Specialist can help—just reach out at morton@connerprairie.org.
