Guided Nature Walks: Conner Prairie Gardens, Learning about dye plants
Explore dye plants in the garden, then try natural dyeing yourself.
Join a naturalist guide for a leisurely walk through the gardens at Conner Prairie, where you'll discover how plants have been used to create vibrant dyes for textiles throughout history. You'll explore the plantings near the Loom House and get to try a hands-on dyeing activity yourself, making this a great way to learn something new while enjoying the outdoors.
The walk follows a wide, crushed gravel path through Prairietown with several resting spots along the route, so families of all ages and abilities can participate comfortably. The program runs rain or shine, so pack sunscreen, a hat, water, or whatever else your family needs to stay comfortable. This guided walk is included free with your general admission to Conner Prairie. If you have specific accessibility needs, you can reach out to the Nature Engagement Specialist at morton@connerprairie.org to discuss how they can help support your visit.
