Guided Nature Walks: Birdability

Spot birds from a stationary vantage point and celebrate Birdability Week at Conner Prairie.

Join a guided bird-watching experience designed with accessibility and inclusion at its heart. This one-hour walk celebrates Birdability Week, an annual event honoring birders with disabilities and other health considerations. Led by Nicole O'Neal from Outdoor Afro, the program invites everyone—from experienced birders to curious beginners—to observe birds while exploring nature together. Families, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers are all welcome. The walk covers less than a mile on flat, paved terrain along the Prairie Trail, with benches positioned along the route if you need to rest. You'll start near the tram turnaround behind the Museum Experience Center and travel at a comfortable group pace. The trail offers partial shade, and you're free to return with your guide or continue exploring on your own. Rain or shine, the program goes ahead, so dress for the weather and bring water or sunscreen as needed. Restrooms with accessible stalls are available at the Museum Experience Center. This program is free with general admission, and the staff welcomes conversations about any access needs you may have—reach out to morton@connerprairie.org before your visit.
