Guided Nature Walks: Being with Birds

Guided birding walk through Conner Prairie's year-round and migratory species.

Join a guided walk through Conner Prairie's natural habitats to discover the birds and wildlife that call this area home. Spring migration brings a special variety of birds heading north, and this one-hour outing offers a chance to spot them resting among the trees, river, and prairie. Binoculars are available to borrow if you don't have your own, and the walk welcomes everyone from curious beginners to experienced birders. You'll encounter a mix of paved and crushed-gravel trails covering roughly three-quarters to one mile, with several benches placed along the route if you need a rest. The walk starts near the tram turnaround behind the Museum Experience Center and follows mostly flat, shaded paths—perfect for families with varying abilities. Restrooms and accessible facilities are available at the Museum Experience Center. Since this program runs rain or shine, come prepared with sunscreen, a hat, water, and weather-appropriate clothing. The walk is included free with general admission to Conner Prairie. If you have accessibility questions or specific needs, reach out to the Nature Engagement Specialist at morton@connerprairie.org before your visit.
