Glorious Fourth
Historic Fourth of July celebration at living-history museum Conner Prairie.
Conner Prairie is celebrating America's independence with a weekend-long program that goes beyond typical Fourth of July festivities. The Glorious Fourth event invites families to explore how freedom has been understood and experienced throughout American history. You'll encounter multiple perspectives, including a recreation of Prairietown's own 60th anniversary celebration of independence, presentations called "Dissenting Voices" at noon and 3 p.m. that encourage reflection on what freedom truly means, and a visit to the 1816 Lenape Indian Camp to learn about Indigenous history and culture.
This is an excellent opportunity for families who want to combine holiday celebration with meaningful learning. The entire program is included with general admission to Conner Prairie, so there are no additional ticket costs. Whether your kids are interested in history, Native American heritage, or simply understanding different perspectives on America's founding ideals, this event offers something thought-provoking for everyone. Plan to spend time exploring the various stations and presentations throughout the weekend.
