Curious by Nature: Thriving in the Winter and Living off the Land

Your family is invited to explore how people survived harsh winters without modern conveniences. During this hands-on session in the Lenape area, kids will investigate real historical challenges: how to preserve food through cold months, which plants and animals could be hunted or gathered when snow covered the ground, and why winter mattered so much to trading posts. The interpretation team will guide your child through these discoveries in an engaging, outdoor setting. This program is designed for curious learners ages 5 and up who enjoy nature exploration and don't mind active outdoor time. One adult gets in free with each child ticket; additional adults are welcome for a small fee. Classes meet on Monday mornings when the prairie is closed to the public, giving your group more space and access. Please dress appropriately for winter weather and outdoor activity.
