Curious By Nature: The Art of History

Ever wonder if those blacksmiths and potters at Conner Prairie are actually artists? This program invites you to explore that question firsthand. Your family will visit the working workshops to get an up-close look at antique pieces over 175 years old and watch demonstrations of the techniques used to create them. It's a chance to spark curiosity about 19th-century craftsmanship and how those historical methods can inspire us today. This homeschool program is designed for children ages 9 and up (younger siblings cannot attend due to the active machinery in the workshops). The one-hour-and-a-half session costs $10 per child, with one accompanying adult admitted free; additional adults are $8. The class takes place on a Monday morning when the prairie is closed to the general public, giving your group a more exclusive experience. Plan to dress appropriately for the weather and bring sturdy shoes, as the program involves exploration across the property.
