Clay Class: Backyard Biodiversity Workshop
Hands-on pottery workshop series: craft stoneware garden helpers and learn about creating wildlife habitats.
Get creative with clay while learning how to welcome nature into your garden. Over the course of this two-part series, you'll handcraft two functional stoneware pieces designed to support pollinators and local wildlife. First, you'll shape a shallow Pollinator Plate complete with spots for bees, butterflies, and birds to drink and rest. Then you'll build a Frog Fort—a domed shelter with its own base plate—where amphibians can find shelter. You'll add your own decorative touches like textures, flowers, leaves, or architectural details to match your garden's style. Two weeks after the initial session, you'll return for a glazing day to paint both pieces in whatever colors and designs you imagine, from earthy woodland tones to whimsical fairy-garden themes.
This beginner-friendly workshop welcomes all ages; children under 13 should bring a helping adult. The $60 series fee covers both building workshops, the return glazing session, all materials, instruction, and kiln firing. Your finished pieces are designed for outdoor use and become both beautiful garden décor and functional habitats. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
