Center Presents: Luminaries: Carmel's Lost Composer

Discover the fascinating story of Frederick Hunt, a classical composer born and raised in Carmel whose music drew deeply from his hometown surroundings. Though largely forgotten today, Hunt corresponded with renowned composers like Jean Sibelius and collaborated with influential mid-20th century musicians. This presentation brings his life and legacy to light through discussion and live performance, featuring clarinetist Eric Salazar and pianist Ashton Vickery performing two of Hunt's compositions: "Southern Pine" and "White Moon." Hamilton County Historian Emeritus David Heighway guides audiences through Hunt's biography and the historical context of his work. Heighway, author of *Hidden History of Hamilton County, Indiana*, brings expertise from his decades working in museums across the country. The performers—Salazar, an accomplished soloist and composer known for blending classical music with improvisation, and Vickery, a collaborating pianist with broad repertoire experience—bring Hunt's music to life. This event offers families a chance to explore local history and enjoy live classical music in an intimate setting.
