Escape the city lights and discover the night sky at McCloud Nature Park during this free stargazing evening. The Indiana Astronomical Society teams up with park naturalists to guide families through an evening of exploration under the stars. The program runs about two hours and welcomes visitors of all ages with no registration needed. The evening starts indoors at the Nature Center with a 30-minute sky seminar where expert astronomers point out which planets and constellations will be visible that night—this portion works best for kids 8 and up. Afterward, you'll head outside to use provided telescopes of various sizes for viewing. Keep in mind that while the seminar happens regardless of weather, the outdoor viewing portion depends on clear skies and may be canceled if poor conditions are forecasted.
